Fighter Babe Jasminka Cive Returns to the Cage this Friday

Fighter babe Jasminka Cive (5-0) brings her undefeated record to Invicta FC this Friday in a tussle with Australian fighter Bec Hyatt (4-2). We recently caught up with Jasminka prior to her fight for the interview below.

How did you get involved in MMA and how long have you been training?

-The first time that I got involved with MMA was with a job as a referee. I liked it so much that I decided to try it myself and only six week later I got my first MMA fight in Vienna back in May of 2010.

Where are you currently training, and what's a typical training week like for you?

-I am training in my home city of Linz in Austria at my own school and team which has the name “CiWi”. It’s a combination of my last name (Cive) and my fiancĂ©’s first (Willi). Right now I train eight times a week. I have my own BJJ and Muay Thai instructor and on two days of the week I take separate wrestling lessons. Other than that we do MMA classes.

Tell us about your upcoming fight, who you're fighting and where?

-My next fight will be at Invicta FC 5 in Kansas City and I will be fighting Bec Hyatt from Australia.

What is your best experience as a fighter? What is your worst?

-I would say every fight that I had was a unique experience and no one was the best or worst. I love to fight no matter where, which style and which opponent. I fought Muay Thai and kickboxing before, but I love MMA.

What advice would you give to other women who are reading this interview and want to get started in MMA?

-My advice for all girls who would like to start with MMA is: just do it as soon as possible, you will find a new true love! And don’t get discouraged, just keep going and you will see that you can do it. Girls are taking over ;-)

What are some of the hurdles that you think Women in MMA need to overcome before Women's MMA will be considered a top level sport like Men's MMA is today?

-WMMA needs more promotions like Invicta FC but also in Europe who would bring the best MMA ladies into the cage. Some more media and presswork also would be great because we need to educate people that it’s not a male only sport.

What or who are your inspirations in MMA and life?

-My inspiration in my life and my sport is my father, he was an officer in the Serbian Army and I always wanted to get so strong like he was.

Who are your favorite MMA fighters?

-I love Anderson Silva and Fedor Emelianenko and the ladies which I love to watch are Cris Cyborg and Joanne Calderwood! I would love to train with them one day. I respect them very much.

How do you enjoy your free time when not training or fighting?

-Free time??? What is that, lol? I don’t have a lot of that, but when I don’t fight or train I promote my own event here in Austria called Mix Fight Night www.mixfight.at. It’s one of the best and one of the biggest events here in Austria in the whole German speaking area. My next one will start on March 30th; my fiancĂ© will fight there as well. I also have a little puppy, his name is “Hope” and he is my hobby that helps me relax. He is like my son ;-) haha

Of course we have a few questions for the male readership as well.

Are you single?

-I am affianced with another MMA fighter, Willi Ott.

What are your turn-ons?

-I love sporty men so to speak, that are in shape. Also important is that they behave well, friendly and show discipline in other areas of life. Those are characteristics I like.

What are your turnoffs?

-Turnoffs would be dumb, unfriendly guys that don’t show any respect to me or others. And as well hairy people, that don’t care for themselves or their body.

What would you say is your best feature?

-My muscles. Haha :)

Any future plans or dreams?

-I would love to live my life like it is; keep on doing the sport as long as possible. I live in love with Muay Thai and MMA so to speak. It’s kind of my life-credo. Hopefully it keeps on for awhile. I also want to grow as a fighter and a promoter.

Any shout outs you would like to make?

-To all fans and (W)MMA supporters: Support our sport wherever you can, your vote could make the difference and our dreams come true!!! Thank you to my sponsors, Phantom MMA and Tussle Fight Gear, especially my friend Slade Bittler. Also a big thanks to Germanys number one fight site Groundandpound.de that supports me all the time and thanks to Invicta FC that made my dream come true to fight for them.

Thank you for the interview Jasminka and good luck on fight night! For more on Jasminka stop by her Facebook and Twitter pages as well as her own promoted event at Mix Fight Night.
