Fighter Babe Cydnee Winger Returns to the Muay Thai Ring this Friday

Fighter babe Cydnee “Cyd Vicious” Winger (1-1) returns to the Muay Thai ring this Friday for 5280 Muay Thai at Tammy’s Event Center in Commerce City, Colorado. Fighting out Pound 4 Pound Fitness in Denver, Colorado we recently caught up with Cydnee prior to her big fight this Friday for the interview below to learn a little more about her.

How did you get involved in MMA and how long have you been training?

-I started martial arts at the young age of four and half years old and have been on a steady and prosperous path since. At the age of sixteen after almost thirteen years of martial arts I became a 2nd degree black belt. I was so confident about fighting and decided to pursue my dream as a child. Since then, I have been focusing and training for MMA for the past 3 years. I have dedicated myself to improving and enhancing myself as an athlete, in hopes of making myself and my family proud.

Where are you currently training, and what's a typical training week like for you?

-At this very moment, I am fighting out of Pound 4 Pound in Denver to propel and help train me into the fighter I aspire to be. I cross train at various gyms and also concentrating and sharpening my striking and Jujitsu skills. For wrestling, I have been building a foundation with James Flemming, a 2012 NCAA D-I All-American. With their help, I believe I am developing a better skill set and drive as a fighter. Between it all, I am training six days a week with strength training, wrestling, and striking.

Tell us about your upcoming fight, who you're fighting and where?

-My fight will be May 12, 2017 in Denver, Colorado. I am fighting in the main event for 5280 Muay Thai.

What is your best experience as a fighter? What is your worst?

-The best experience as a fighter I have had so far, is my first loss. I genuinely believe it was a blessing in disguise. In my first loss, I have learned not to welcome defeat but only to grow from it and use it as a platform for my future success.

-The worst experience thus far was learning how to deal with greed and jealousy after a win. I had a lot more criticism after my first win then my loss, which was mind boggling because I fought like hell to win. I learn from every experience and I learned after my first win, everyone has to have an opinion and love to believe theirs is important. All I can do is try my best.

What advice would you give to other women who are reading this interview and want to get started in MMA?

-You don’t require anyone’s validation to make you successful, always take what is rightfully yours, be humble is the main key and with it respect.

Who are your favorite MMA fighters?

-I have always been a fan of Miesha Tate, Holly Holm, Joanna Jedrzejczyk, Cindy Dandois and Connor McGregor.

How do you enjoy your free time when not training or fighting?

-Family and friends have always been the most important aspect in my life and I enjoy being with them any chance I am free. I love camping and hiking whenever I get time. The beach always is calling my name and always enjoy spending my time in the sun.

Lastly before we let you go we would love to hear about your future plans and let you send some shout outs.

Any future plans or dreams?

-I aspire to be a successful Mixed Martial Artist and someday make a statement and name for myself. I am young enough in the fight game that I have time to grow into the fighter I truly would like to be, and I will enjoy every step of the way including failure.

-In between I will still concentrate on my education and further myself by going to college and doing internships. I am looking to major in Biology and Animal science, and then become a wildlife vet in the future. I have a lot of things I would like to do in this lifetime. Modeling especially, not only for myself but to also walk in the footsteps of my Great Grandma Marvene Baird. I still have a lifetime ahead of me to figure everything out. I always stay humble and respect my fellow fighters.

-I don’t know where my path or dreams are going to take me but I pray that I at least make those I care about proud. I dream of someday accomplishing all that I set out to do, and being content with the life I have made myself as well as my future family. Then afterwards have a couple of drinks on a beautiful island and not be around people, I can only dream. I graduated from High School my junior year to pursue fighting and Education. I want some day to educate students about High School bullying and how to deal with it as I have myself.

Any shout outs you would like to make?

-I would like to thank Justin Houghton at Pound 4 Pound for investing so much of his time and dedicating himself to making others better and allowing your students to grow. You will never know my gratitude for you. Thank you to my former teammates for always looking out for my best interest and helping me learn every day. You will always be my family. I am only going to improve and think of all of you in the growing process. Also, my family and loved ones for supporting me and your endless love. I would like to thank the support from my Twitter followers. I could go on for days and thank everyone of them. Thank you so much.

Thank you very much for your time Cydnee and good luck on fight night! Cydnee will also be looking to make her MMA debut at 105-115 pounds in the near future so give her a follow on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for upcoming fight news.
