Fighter Babe Julia Budd Returns to the Cage this Saturday

Fighter babe Julia “The Jewel” Budd (5-2) steps back into the cage this Saturday for Invicta FC 7 at the Ameristar Casino in Kansas City, Missouri. We recently caught up with Port Moody, Canada product prior to her big fight this Saturday for the interview below to learn a little more about Julia as she looks to climb her way up the rankings to a title fight.

How did you get involved in MMA and how long have you been training?

-I started training Muay Thai back in high school and the transition into MMA was natural. I started wrestling and MMA in 2009.

Where are you currently training, and what's a typical training week like for you?

-I train at Gibson MMA in Port Moody; I train 2-3 times a day 6 days a week. I'll mix between grappling, sparring, boxing and MMA.

Tell us about your upcoming fight, who you're fighting and where?

-My upcoming fight is December 7th against Charmaine Tweet (4-3) in Kansas City for Invicta FC.

What has been your best experience as a fighter?

-My best experience was redeeming my loss to Germaine de Randamie in MMA.

What advice would you give to other women who are reading this interview and want to get started in MMA?

-I would say follow your dreams! This can be one of the most challenging, rewarding and exhilarating careers you could ever choose!

What or who are your inspirations in MMA and life?

-Honestly the kids I teach at Gibson MMA inspire me and so do my teammates. I know they look up to me and it's my team that helps me get to where I am so it's them that I care about impressing.

Who are your favorite MMA fighters?

-GSP, Jose Aldo, and Anderson Silva.

How do you enjoy your free time when not training or fighting?

-I love cooking, spending time with my family and shopping. I also enjoy spending time with my two Akitas, they are my babies.

For those who will inquire we have a couple questions for the male readership as well.

Are you single?

-No.

What do you look for in a guy?

-Ambition, sense of humor and how they treat others.

What are your turn-ons?

-I love someone who can make me laugh and my husband of course :)

What are your turnoffs?

-Ignorance.

-To continue fighting, improving my record and fight for a world title!
