Fighter Babe Alexis Delderfield Returns to the Cage this Friday

Fighter babe Alexis Delderfield returns to the cage this Friday to battle it out with Ginger Velasco at Fight Card Entertainment 48 in Cicero, IL. We recently caught up with our local fighter prior to her fight this Friday.

How did you get involved in MMA and how long have you been training?

-My involvement came from my then co-worker and my now teammate, Tony Ortiz. I had attended one of his fights two years ago and I witnessed a women's bout. That is when I fell in love with the sport. To date, I have been training a bit over a year and a half.

Where are you currently training, and what's a typical training week like for you?

-I currently train at KA Fitness/Karate Academy located in Elmwood Park - Chicagoland area. A training week for me involves six days of two-a-day work outs. Training includes everything and anything ranging from High Intensity Interval Training, to lifting and sparring. I also instruct a women's kickboxing class so that is the time I perfect my technique the most.

Tell us about your upcoming fight, who you're fighting and where?

-On March 1st I will be fighting Ginger "Snaps" Velaso from Team No Comment. Our fight will be a Muay Thai match held at Cicero Stadium in Cicero, IL on the Fight Card Entertainment 48 fight card.

What is your best experience as a fighter? What is your worst?

-My best experience as a fighter had to have been the first initial feeling I felt when I was locked in the cage for the first time. The crowd and the adrenaline are unexplainable.

-My worst would have to be my loss in Muay Thai against No Comment's, Jessica Heuer. I had all the right tools to win the fight; I just didn't apply myself the way I trained.

What advice would you give to other women who are reading this interview and want to get started in MMA?

-Don't be afraid to get in there with the guys. Being the only girl fighter at my gym for a while, (luckily, there are two new girls up and coming at my gym) I had to train like one of the boys. The biggest things we girls concern ourselves with are our face and looks, but you can't be scared to take a hit.

What or who are your inspirations in MMA and life?

-My biggest inspiration in fighting is my coaches and my team. Without my coaches, I would not be the woman I am today both endurance and confidence-wise. And without my team, I would not have the support that has carried me as far as I am today. In life, I'm inspired by those who succeed and do exceedingly well in their profession. Success is the key to everything.

Who are your favorite MMA fighters?

-Invicta's Joanne Calderwood and of course, the face of women's MMA - Ronda Rousey.

How do you enjoy your free time when not training or fighting?

-When I'm not training, I am spending my time either working at Starbucks or studying at school. I'm not that exciting of a person, haha.

Of course we have a few questions for the male readership as well.

Are you single?

-Sorry boys, I am not.

What do you look for in a guy?

-Intelligence, good sense of humor, loving personality and someone who doesn't mind that I fight.

What are your turn-ons?

-Definitely intelligence. Not to sound too exceedingly cocky, but I'm a smart person myself and knowledge is power, and power is sexy.

What are your turnoffs?

-Ignorance and someone who can't handle a joke.

What would you say is your best feature?

-My thighs, all muscle baby! And my red hair.

Any future plans or dreams?

-I am currently a Pre-Med/Neuroscience student and my future plan is to head to medical school in the next couple years and pursue my dreams of being a neurosurgeon.

Any shout outs you would like to make?

-I'd like to give a shout out to not only my team, Team 110 for helping me get ready for my fight, but a shout out to my best friend Jessica - thank you for putting up with all the shit I put you through when I'm cutting weight.

Thank you for your time Alexis and can’t wait to see you fight live this Friday night! For more on Alexis stop by her Twitter page and say hello.

  1. Of course the ladies brought it and gave the fans an exciting fight. In the end Ginger Velasco was awarded the 29-28 unanimous but close decision over Alexis Delderfield. Glad we were able to catch this fight live.
