Revisiting Carano vs Cyborg

I happen to stumble across this video the other day and thought it would be good to revisit and share. Women's MMA has been around for awhile now but this fight just over two years ago made a statement that it had arrived. Carano versus Cyborg was the first women's MMA fight to headline a major event and still ranks as the second most watched event in the history of the Strikeforce promotion. Although not completely mainstream yet women's MMA has made some great strides since the epic fight between Carano and Cyborg. New promotions are featuring the ladies, more talented women joining the sport everyday and the recent announcement that Strikeforce just renewed its contract with Showtime with Dana White commenting that the women's divisions will remain as he has been attacked by the fans weekly for its popularity. Will we see the ladies in UFC one day? That remains to be seen but the ladies are definitely making a statement and are here to stay.

Gina Carano Steams Up the Big Screen

Gina Carano's new movie Haywire is set to premier on January 20th. We have seen several trailers and the movie looks like it rocks! Even better Gina recently shot with GQ Magazine for that incredibly sexy picture seen above for the January issue to help promote the movie. Props to Cage Potato and Fightlinker for sharing the hotness. Can't wait to see the movie and hope we see Gina back in the cage someday soon too.

Gina Carano, First her Fight and Now her Movie Delayed

Certainly not the best month for fighter Gina Carano.  First she is not medically cleared for her return to the cage and now her movie "Haywire" has been delayed as well.  Relativity Media reported last week that "Haywire" will now debut on January 20, 2012.  We miss you Gina!

Earlier this week the public was informed that Gina Carano was not medically cleared for her return to the Cage on June 18th.  Unfortunately these things happen in this sport but thought a few pictures of this fighter babe might cheer everyone up for time being.

We broke the big news Wednesday via our Facebook and Twitter pages but thought this should be front page news as well.  Gina "Conviction" Carano is back in the cage training!  Per Xtreme Couture Gina spent Wednesday morning training with Gil Martinez.  The women's MMA world is buzzing and this couldn't be better timing for the sport.  We can't wait for Gina's next fight and up coming movie Haywire to be released in April!

Support Women's MMA!

Show your support for women's MMA!  UFC president Dana White said his organization would never include a women's division because there is not enough competition.  Women's MMA has grown tremendously in the past few years and is getting better by the day.  Roger O'Brian is a part of the movement to change Dana's words by starting an online petition on Facebook.  His goal is to get 500,000 people to like his page to change the views of the UFC.  Help spread the word and like this page to petition for a women's division in UFC here.  Global expansion and women are the future of MMA so let's help make it happen!
