Babes of MMA sponsored fighter Mellony Geugjes (0-1) returns to the cage this Friday night for Superior Combative Championships at the Guys and Dolls Ballroom in Fort Worth, Texas. Mellony is a Dutch, European and two-time ISKA World Champion kickboxer (55kg) who currently holds a 32-8-2 (5 TKO) record and also a European Boxing champion (4-2). She fights in the strawweight MMA division. Fighting out of Mike’s Gym in the Netherlands we recently caught up with Mellony prior to her big MMA fight this Friday for the interview below to learn a little more about her.

How did you get involved in MMA and how long have you been training?

-My mother was a black belt in Judo and it was the first sport I did. After a while I started training Muay Thai and did some fights. I missed the ground game so that’s why I started MMA training again.

Where are you currently training, and what's a typical training week like for you?

-I train at Mike’s Gym in the Netherlands. I train 2 times a day, 5 times a week, Saturday is only a morning training session. During the week I have MMA, BJJ, No Gi, Kickboxing, weight training and condition training.

Tell us about your upcoming fight, who you're fighting and where?

-I will be fighting Montana Stewart for Superior Combative Championships in Fort Worth, Texas.

What is your best experience as a fighter? What is your worst?

-Best is to travel and meet new people and worst is losing a fight lol.

What advice would you give to other women who are reading this interview and want to get started in MMA?

-Just do it, if you want something just go and try and never give up. I know it’s a learning process and will take time but it’s the best time you will have.

What or who are your inspirations in MMA and life?

-Not really anybody, I just focus on myself.

Who are your favorite MMA fighters?

-I Like Jon Jones and Conor McGregor as fighters.

How do you enjoy your free time when not training or fighting?

-Shopping or enjoying time to hang out with some friends.

Lastly before we let you go we would love to hear about your future plans and let you send some shout outs.

-I will see myself in 2 years in the UFC for sure, I know I have it in me, it’s just a matter of time. The rest I want to thank my trainers Michael Passenier, Oscar Roque, Danny van Bergen, Fabian Berrenstein and Remco Pardoel for training me and of course everybody who helps me in the gym and my friends and family

Any future plans or dreams?

-UFC Strawweight Champion.
