Fighter Babe Jessy Jess Ready to Throw Down this Saturday

Fighter babe Jessy Jess (2-1) steps back into the cage this Saturday for a bantamweight title co-main event showdown with Zoie Shreiweis for Unarmed Combat Unleashed 2 Unarmed Combat Unleashed 2 at the Emerald Town Hall in Emerald, Queensland, Australia. Fighting out of Integrated MMA in Brisbane we recently caught up with Jessy prior to her big title fight this Saturday for the interview below.

How did you get involved in MMA and how long have you been training?

-I have been training for about 5 years now. Starting originally in kickboxing, it has only been recently that my love for grappling and MMA as a whole has developed. That is thanks to my great coaches at Integrated MMA.

Where are you currently training, and what's a typical training week like for you?

-I train at Integrated MMA in Stafford, Brisbane, Queensland. My typical Monday to Friday involves 2-3 training sessions a day as well as my personal training clients and working in a fruit store. Weekends are pretty much the same actually except I only have 1-2 sessions.

Tell us about your upcoming fight, who you're fighting and where?

-I am fighting on Unarmed Combat Unleashed 2 in Emerald. My opponent is Zoie Shreiweis from C4 MMA in Coffs Harbour.

What is your best experience as a fighter? What is your worst?

-Honestly I have experienced so many amazing things in my short career so far, such as defeating a Muay Thai World Champion and then a multiple Boxing World Champion, and being awarded my blue belt by Coach Dan Higgins.

-The worst experience was definitely my loss. It is a sore topic for me!

What advice would you give to other women who are reading this interview and want to get started in MMA?

-Just do it! It is amazing for self defense and teaching life skills that you can't receive anywhere else. You don't have to compete but I guarantee training will change your life.

What or who are your inspirations in MMA and life?

-My main inspiration in both MMA and life is my Coach, Dan Higgins. He is a remarkable man with years and years of knowledge when it comes to Mixed Martial Arts. He's achieved greatness in so many different areas of combat sports, yet still remains a wonderful husband and father to his family, as well as the best mentor to his students.

Who are your favorite MMA fighters?

-Frankie Edgar, Megumi Fuji, Cris Cyborg and Ronda Rousey.

How do you enjoy your free time when not training or fighting?

-I love hanging out with my friends, we do Sober Sundayyz where we all put on pretty dresses and go to the local spot for a Sunday Session without drinking!

For those who will inquire we have a couple questions for the male readership as well.

Are you single?

-As of recently, no I am not!

What do you look for in a guy?

-A sense of humor, intelligence, they must be self motivated and driven to achieve whatever their goals may be. They have to train, not necessarily in MMA or combat sports, but physical fitness is a must!

What are your turn-ons?

-Muscular legs!

What are your turnoffs?

-Nose hair.

What would you say is your best feature?

-Ummm, probably my eyes, they seem to stand out!

Lastly before we let you go we would love to hear about your future plans and let you send some shout outs.

Any future plans or dreams?

-The goal for this year is to make it to Japan to fight or at the very least train with some of the great MMA women there.

Any shout outs you would like to make?

-Yes! Big thank you to my Coaches Dan Higgins, Adrian Pang, Steve Compton, Sean Hannam and the entire crew at Integrated MMA and EMT Fairtex. Also to ASN Brisbane, Return 2 Raw, NRCHI Bodyworks and Mark Edmondson (Peak Performance Coach).

Thank you very much for your time Jessy and good luck on fight night! Click here to purchase tickets to Jessy’s fight and send your shout outs to her on FacebookInstagram and Twitter.
