Fighter Babe Veronica Carousos Returns to the Cage this Saturday

Fighter babe Veronica Carousos (1-0 amateur) returns to the cage this Saturday at Ultimate Reno Combat 42 in Reno, Nevada for a title fight. We recently connected with Veronica for the interview below before she steps back into the cage. But first a few words from Veronica for aspiring ladies of martial arts. “Mixed martial arts are really a true love of mine and I hope that women who read this get inspired to pick up a pair of gloves and begin their martial arts journey!”

How did you get involved in MMA and how long have you been training?

-I started out doing kempo karate with my mother when I was very young. I have always been very competitive and craved more knowledge in fight sports. From there I went on to boxing, kickboxing, jiu-jitsu and then into the MMA world where I could show all of the things I knew at once.

Where are you currently training, and what's a typical training week like for you?

-I train with A-Team out of Chico, California. A typical week includes about 2 hours a night working on stand up techniques or jujitsu (depending on the day) and an additional hour to work on wrestling and other take down techniques and defenses. I also do sprints three times a week to keep my cardio up along with heavy bag workouts.

Tell us about your upcoming fight, who you're fighting and where?

-I am fighting July 20th against Aspen Ladd (3-0) at Ultimate Reno Combat 42 in Reno, Nevada for the 125 lb women’s title.

What is your best experience as a fighter? What is your worst?

-My best experience would have to be anytime I really learn a new move and am able to put it into use while live sparing. It’s really fulfilling because it’s one thing to know a move, but a totally different thing to put it into use while sparing!

-My worst experience while fighting has been hyper extending my elbow during training. It is all healed up now but was a very scary thing to go through!

What advice would you give to other women who are reading this interview and want to get started in MMA?

-Once you start, DON’T GIVE UP! It seems hard and may be a little overwhelming at first, but if you just give it a few months you’ll really start picking things up and putting them to use! Try your best and just have fun!

What or who are your inspirations in MMA and life?

-My biggest inspirations are my mother Tamara and my wrestling instructor Alex Thill. They are both extremely strong individuals and no matter what life has to throw at them, they come out stronger than they did before and put life back in its place!

Who are your favorite MMA fighters?

-My absolute favorite MMA fighter is Mr. Georges St-Pierre. I think he is just amazing at what he does. He comes from an extremely humbling background and keeps his humility even though he is the welterweight champion.

How do you enjoy your free time when not training or fighting?

-Being in college, my free time is usually spent in class and doing homework. It is a huge balancing act but completely worth it to be able to do what I love!

For those who will inquire we have a couple of questions for the male readership as well.

Are you single?

-Yes! I am currently single and keeping my focus on my training.

What do you look for in a guy?

-I look for a hard worker, humble and funny personality. I have always been more attracted to men that have their head on straight and don’t worry about what other people think as long as they are doing what they love.

What are your turn-ons?

-Hard workers! For sure! Athletic, active and willing to get out and have fun!

What are your turnoffs?

-Over confident or cocky guys never really catch my eye; they just don’t do it for me!

What would you say is your best feature?

-I would say my best feature is my sense of humor; I am always laughing and smiling. I also tend to take jokes really well, no poor sports!

Lastly before we let you go we would love to hear about your future and let you send some shout outs.

Any future plans or dreams?

-Of course my dream is to fight professionally for Invicta FC or the UFC! I would also like to use fighting as a way to give back and help people in some way.

Any shout outs you would like to make?

-I want to make a HUGE shout out to my amazing sponsors Outlaw Fight Gear and Team Lana’s Egg Whites! They are truly amazing companies with amazing people behind them. Much love goes out to them both!

Thank you very much for your time Veronica and good luck on fight night! Send your shout outs to Veronica on Twitter @ChaosMMA. Click here to purchase tickets to this event or click here to purchase the iPPV for $9.99 starting at 9 p.m. ET.
