May 2012 MMA Babe of the Month – Shannon Ihrke

Our May 2012 MMA babe of the month is MMA ring girl and model Shannon Ihrke. Since meeting this stunner at ProElite MMA last year this former Marine Sergeant has been taking the MMA world by storm. Shannon has worked with ProElite MMA, King of the Cage, Sterling Entertainment, Fight! Magazine, a Hometown Hottie finalist for Maxim Magazine and countless other print, promotional and runway appearances. This blonde bombshell is 5’8”, 120 lbs. and measures 34B-24-34. We recently had the pleasure of reconnecting with our friend Shannon for the interview below.

How did you get into the world of MMA?

-An amazing matchmaker, Mike Camp, thought it would be a good idea for me to enter a ring girl contest for ProElite. I ended up winning the contest and I've been blessed enough to be busy with ring girl jobs ever since!

What were you doing before you became an MMA ring girl and model?

-I just finished my 4-year commitment to the Marine Corps in January. I was stationed at Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, South Carolina and 4th Maintenance Battalion, 4th MLG in Rock Island, Illinois. I was an administrative specialist and worked a lot with the finances and legal issues for Marines.

Who are your favorite MMA fighters?

-I'm in love with GSP! I'm also a big fan of Andrei Arlovski, Brian Stann, and Rashad Evans.

What are the strangest and sweetest comments MMA fans have said to you?

-Haha, great question! The marriage proposals are probably the strangest forms of flattery for me! Actually, at the last fight I was at, I was taking pictures with the fans and some lady kept asking me if she could make out with me... awkward! The sweetest comments are from the people that I don't expect, the kids! I love the kids that get excited about the fights!! I had a little girl in Hawaii that called me pretty before a fight and I thought it was just so sweet!

What would your fight name be if you were a fighter?

-My name would definitely have something to do with being a Marine Corps Sergeant.

What is something most people don't know about you?

-Most people don't know: 1) I have a big soft-spot for fast food (Big Macs!), 2) I love public speaking, and 3) I'm just a small-town girl that likes to fish with her dad :)

What are your hobbies and how do you spend your free time?

-I like to be outdoors! I like spending time camping, horseback riding, four-wheeling, and I'm also a true beach bum. I also like trying out new restaurants, traveling, and experiencing different cultures.

Are you single?

-Only until I find a good southern gentlemen ;)

What do you look for in a guy?

-I look for a few things in all people that I surround myself with. I like to be around people that have goals and push themselves. Being around successful people will only push you to be more successful. I love a confident, well-rounded, and sweet man - that's sexy to me! (Of course a six pack with some nice abs doesn't hurt either.)

What are your turn-ons?

-The first things I look at on a guy are their eyes, teeth, and shoes -- you can tell a lot by a guys shoes! I'm a typical tall, dark, and handsome kind of gal. A deep voice and some sort of military background never hurts either. If you have a nerdy side I'll like you even more!

What are your turnoffs?

-Guys that don't know what they want or aren't sure of themselves. How can I be sure about you if you aren't sure about yourself?

What would you say is your best feature?

-Probably my lips.

What are your future plans or dreams in life?

-I'd love to continue to work in the MMA world. It would be a dream to work with Bellator or the UFC!

Any special shout outs or thank you's?

-A big thank you goes out to my family! They are all amazing and have an amazing ability to put up with my craziness. I also have to thank ProElite for believing I could be a great ring girl and King of the Cage and Sterling Entertainment for thinking so as well! I also have to thank Maxim and Fight! Magazine and all the MMA bloggers for constantly keeping me on my toes!

Shannon is always on the move so don’t miss a beat and find her on Facebook under Shannon Ihrke, on Twittter @ShannonIhrke and her new website http://shannonihrke.com/ which launched yesterday. Thank you very much for your time Shannon and hope to see you again soon.
