Our February 2012 MMA babe of the month is MMA ring girl, model and fighter Ashley Salazar. Ashley is also a professional modelographer, actress and United State Air Force veteran who currently resides in the St. Louis area. This 27 year-old stunner is 5’7”, 115 lbs. and measures a curvy 34DD-26-36.

Ashley has been making a name in the MMA world working with or being featured by the likes of ourselves at Babes of MMA, Strikeforce Rockstar Energy, Shamrock Promotions, Cage Ready, Tussle Fight Gear, MMA Heat, MMA Candy, Cage Potato, Bleacher Report MMA, Warrior Angel Apparel, Pro Elite ring girl finalist, current ring girl for Premier Combat League and quite a few more.

We recently caught up with this determined lady for the interview below. Read on to find out more about Ashley and her big year in 2012.

How did you get into the world of MMA?

-A few years ago I started getting job offers to become a MMA ring girl. I grew up being a big WWE fan but never experienced the world of MMA. I was a wrestling cheerleader in high school and have always been into contact sports myself. Literally after the first round seeing a fight up close by the cage I was officially in love and hooked.

-It was within a few months of more ring girl jobs that I was offered the chance to fight myself for a “Hot Girl” fight title and a month of free training with UFC veteran Steve Berger. I won the fight that night in a 36 second TKO and continued training under Red Nose MMA. My second fight didn’t go as planned about a year later, I was cheated out of a crappy referee call I never tapped.

-I’m hoping in 2012 to fight again with my new trainer Jermaine Andre. MMA is a personal versus professional calling for me as I fight for myself and not for a career in it. I simply fight because I’ve been fighting my whole life, MMA teaches me how to control and focus my passion of this into a new way of fighting back at life itself.

What were you doing before you became a MMA ring girl, model and fighter?

-I was enlisted in the Air Force for six years, going to school and raising my daughter.

Who are your favorite MMA fighters?

-Alistair Overeem and Miesha Tate are my top favorites.

What are the strangest and sweetest comments MMA fans have said to you?

-Strangest would be that they didn’t believe that I actually fought MMA myself until I literally showed them one of my fight videos. Sweetest would be that I am their all time favorite ring girl.

If you continue fighting what would be your fight nickname?

-Salazar Slytherin perhaps. I usually fight under my real name but am looking to adopt a nickname but I’ve more or less figured it will come in time from my gym.

What is something most people don’t know about you?

-I like to write poetry and song lyrics.

What are your hobbies and how do you spend your free time?

-I have one main passion in life and that’s my art and I love to create and literally do every day. For fun I enjoy reading, dancing, fishing, camping, going to concerts, spending time with friends and my daughter and most recently Xbox Live so add my under SSgtSalazar84.

Are you single?

-No I am engaged.

What do you look for in a guy or girl?

-Honesty, loyalty, drive, passion, humbleness, strength and a caring nature to start. Physically I am attracted to both women and men so it just depends on their looks and personality.

What are your turn-ons?

-Confidence, ambition, a guy or girl who can make me laugh and dancing.

What are your turnoffs?

-Rude people, real drunk guys who hit on me and unibrows, they kind of freak me out.

What would you say is your best feature?

-My heart.

What are your future plans or dreams in life?

-2012 holds a lot in store for me already.

-I will be featured in the April and May Maxim Espanol which I am super excited about.

-Currently I am working on a 21 month calendar project for killingdevils.com for the 2012-2014 Killing Devil Girl Calendar as the official photographer.

-My new article with Coed Magazine entitled “Ambassador of Beauty” will launch soon where I will feature models outside of the USA and take readers into the ultimate model interview and travel country guide.

-Busted Coverage has offered me a few guest blogger spots so I am excited about working with them to continue my professional writing experiences.

-Very soon my first radio show #LadyAshley will kick off live every week on iwatchradio.com where I will talk about topics from MMA, modeling, current events and more.

-I have several film projects lined up this year already including what looks like my next lead role in a film and several short films.

-Re-launch of http://www.missoohlalaa.com/ my digital magazine will be happening soon.

-Ring girl for Premier Combat League in May so come see me ring girl and enjoy the fights! Ask me for tickets :)

-As for dreams I have a few of them. One is to be in Playboy, I want to be a film director, see my digital magazine http://www.missoohlalaa.com/ take off nationally, do more acting as well and a few other things.
