Fighter Babe Cynthia Arceo Returns to the Cage this Saturday

Fighter babe Cynthia “SIN” Arceo (3-0) returns to the cage this Saturday for the King of the Cage world strawweight title at the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, California. Fighting out of El Paso, Texas we recently caught up with Cynthia prior to her big fight this Saturday for the interview below to learn a little more about her.

How did you get involved in MMA and how long have you been training?

-I've done martial arts and been involved in combat sports for over 20 years. After seeing a women's MMA fight, I wanted to do it too. From there my martial arts training developed into MMA.

Where are you currently training, and what's a typical training week like for you?

-I currently train out of USAK and Luttrell/Yee MMA. On a typical training week, I train two to three times a day at USAK and I travel to Albuquerque to train at Luttrell/Yee MMA. Sometimes my schedule seems to be very packed as I have to balance that with my other passion as a kindergarten teacher, but I would have it no other way.

Tell us about your upcoming fight, who you're fighting and where?

-I will be fighting Chelsea Faulder (1-1) for the King of the Cage world strawweight title in Ontario, California.

What has been your best experience as a fighter?

-Thank God I have accomplished so many goals that I cannot pinpoint a particular event. It can go all the way from fighting in front of my karate students and hear them cheer and celebrate with me all the way to obviously getting my hand raised at the end of a fight. I guess if I have to choose something it would be the experience of the fight itself. Everything that has to do with it from training to the anticipation of it knowing that I have an opponent, craving for fight day to come, weigh-ins to the moment where they lock the cage and nothing matters anymore.

What advice would you give to other women who are reading this interview and want to get started in MMA?

-I would advise them to work hard and believe in themselves. Everyone has The Right to be the Best!

What or who are your inspirations in MMA and life?

-My inspiration in life and in MMA is my head coach Alfredo Vazquez as he has endeavored some extreme challenges that almost took his life but excelled and proved that winners never quit is not just a slogan.

Who are your favorite MMA fighters?

-My favorite MMA fighter is Lyoto Machida.

How do you enjoy your free time when not training or fighting?

-I enjoy extreme sports like skiing, shooting and motorcycle riding.

Lastly before we let you go we would love to hear about your future plans and let you send some shout outs.

Any future plans or dreams?

-Keep fighting and adding wins to my record.

Any shout outs you would like to make?

-Shout out to my camps USAK and Luttrell/Yee MMA!! All my training family! My coaches and sponsors for all their support and dedication! The fans, as all this wouldn't be possible without them!

Thank you very much for your time Cynthia and good luck on fight night! Click here for more event information including tickets and send your shout outs to Cynthia on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter!

Fighter Babe Melissa Karagianis Returns to the Cage this Friday

Fighter babe Melissa Karagianis (2-0) returns to the cage this Friday for King of the Cage: Declaring War at the Black Bear Casino in Carlton, Minnesota. Fighting out of Toronto, Canada we recently caught up with the CUFF atomweight champion prior to her big fight this Friday for the interview below to learn a little more about her.

How did you get involved in MMA and how long have you been training?

-So, I started martial arts at a young age earning my black belt in Taekwondo at 16. I then took time off training to focus on school. Shortly after I felt like I needed to get back into shape so I started Muay Thai classes. I fell in love with Muay Thai and competed regularly picking up several North American titles. I then transitioned into MMA about 2 years ago.

What's a typical training week like for you?

-I train at 6ix MMA in Toronto and my head MMA coach is Danny Beauclerc. I stay active all year round because I love training to be in fight shape. When I'm in fight camp I train 6 days a week. I usually split up my days with strength and conditioning in the morning and MMA training in the evening. I just started training at Striation 6 where I've added the Isophit into my strength training routine. I'm feeling stronger than ever! As for my MMA training it changes daily. I'm so lucky to train with a talented team that pushes me which allows me to keep growing as a fighter. I'm definitely the smallest at my gym which I think gives me an advantage when I'm in the cage fighting other atomweights.

Tell us about your upcoming fight, who you're fighting and where?

-My upcoming fight is with King of the Cage December 9th in Minnesota. I'm fighting Jayme Hinshaw. This will be my second fight with KOTC.

What is your best experience as a fighter? What is your worst?

-My best experience so far has been winning fight of the night when I fought for CUFF last November. It was my first MMA fight so that makes it extra special. I can't say I have any bad experiences with fighting. Every time you step in the ring or cage it's a learning experience.

What advice would you give to other women who are reading this interview and want to get started in MMA?

-I recommend MMA to everyone, especially to women. You don't need to be a fighter to train MMA. It's a fun way to stay fit and learn self-defense. It's never boring and a great way to relieve some stress!

Who are your favorite MMA fighters?

-My favorite MMA fighters are Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Cowboy Cerrone.

How do you enjoy your free time when not training or fighting?

-When I'm not fighting, or training I really value my down time. I use this time to catch up with friends and family. I have a very busy schedule as I also work as a hairstylist. I enjoy food a lot! Lol. So, when I'm not cutting weight I like to get dressed up and check out the newest restaurants.

Lastly before we let you go we would love to hear about your future plans and let you send some shout outs.

Any future plans or dreams?

-I plan on fighting regularly and hopefully I'll be fighting for the KOTC atomweight title in the near future.

Any shout outs you would like to make?

-I'd like to give a shout out to my team at 6ix MMA.

Thank you very much for your time Melissa and good luck on fight night! Click here for more event information including tickets and send your shout outs to Melissa on Facebook and Instagram!

Jamie Colleen Defends Her KOTC Strawweight Title this Saturday

Fighter babe Jamie Colleen (3-0) defends her strawweight title this Saturday for King of the Cage: Night of Champions at the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, California. Fighting out of Philadelphia and New Jersey we recently caught up with Jamie prior to her big title fight this Saturday for the interview below to learn a little more about her.

How did you get involved in MMA and how long have you been training?

-I got involved in Martial Arts roughly 10 years ago while living in South Carolina. My friend was an instructor and convinced me to try some classes. After my first class I never stopped training. I discovered my passion and realized that it was a path that I needed to embark on. Under the guidance of Maurice Travis, I competed in amateur boxing and kickboxing fights. I later moved to Cincinnati and made my transition to MMA.

Where are you currently training, and what's a typical training week like for you?

-I am currently training in Philadelphia and New Jersey under Dante Rivera, Bobby Johnson, and Daniel Gracie. (Dante Rivera BJJ, Ricardo Almeida BJJ, and Daniel Gracie Academy).

-A typical training week for me involves lots of commuting. Lol. And Because I am a single parent, I try to get most of my training in during the day while my daughter attends school so most of my sessions are back to back. But for the most part a typical training week consists of sparring, pad work, Jiu Jitsu, as well as strength and conditioning and wrestling.

Tell us about your upcoming fight, who you're fighting and where?

-My upcoming fight will take place on March 5th in Ontario California. It will be a rematch against Danielle Taylor (6-1).

What is your best experience as a fighter? What is your worst?

-It's really hard to say actually because I don't think I've ever had a "worst" moment. For me, I have experienced trials and tribulations as a fighter, and all of those things have molded me into what I am today. It's all about progression and growth and that's what makes the overall experience the best that it can be. If you can embrace the pain and trials along the way and know you will become a better human being because of it, it makes it all worth it. And that for me is the best experience overall.

What advice would you give to other women who are reading this interview and want to get started in MMA?

-My best advice would be to take your time if it's something you truly want to pursue. For fitness alone, I think it's the best thing that will help shape you mind and body. On the competitive side, you have to realize that it's an uphill battle and to become skillful in each of the martial arts, takes time, commitment, sacrifice and 100% effort every day. I would encourage anyone to try!

What or who are your inspirations in MMA and life?

-My main inspiration comes from my daughter. I am inspired by her to be the best version of myself both in and out of the cage.

Who are your favorite MMA fighters?

-I love Anderson Silva and Holy Holm.

How do you enjoy your free time when not training or fighting?

-Well, I have to say I am always training even when I don't have a fight coming up. It's my happy place :) But, when I'm not in camp my daughter and I are always finding fun things to get into. Also, I'm a total foodie, so I try to hit a new restaurant in Philly every week.

Lastly before we let you go we would love to hear about your future plans and let you send some shout outs.

Any future plans or dreams?

-I hope to be UFC Champ.

Any shout outs you would like to make?

-I would like to thank my coaches Dante Rivera, Bobby Johnson, Maurice Travis and Daniel Gracie. I want to thank all of my teammates and training partners, as well as my family and friends who have always supported me.

-My sponsors: Syntha-Bag, XfinityLive, DaFirma Kimono Company, EyeFight Sports Nutrition, Dragon Do, iMan TV, Philly Phitness, Meal Plans to Go, Bouchard's Anything's Pastable and Brocato's Italian Market.

Thank you very much for your time Jamie and good luck on fight night! Click here for ticket information and listings for cable TV stations broadcasting this event live. Send your shout outs to Jamie on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter!
